FIRST SEMESTER
The Junior Vocational english classes revole around the foundational elements. We will concetrate on parts-of-speech and mechanics. We will also read a novel. the novel will be either The Great Gilly Hopkins, Pay It Forward, Hatchet or The Rats of NIMH.
SECOND SEMESTER
In my Junior English classes, we will continue working on the foundational aspects as well as view a suspense movie to get a visualization of suspense. the movie will either be "Clue" or " Something Wicked This Way Comes" which is based on the book of the same name written by Ray Badbury. After the movie the students will write a summary about the movie including some of the literary elements we have discussed ( flashback, nemesis, twist, etc...).
Prior to viewing the movie, we will read a short novel titled, "Don't Blame the Children" by Anne Schraff. The rest of the unit will be based on the the novel.
